BENDIX STABLES
Bendix Stables is a beautiful heritage building in Arrowtown which has functioned as a restaurant for many years. The new proprietors were looking to breathe new life into the building and acknowledge the wonderful history of the stable building's original owner, Bendix Hallenstein.

Working with a local fine furniture maker for the exterior signs, it was a privilege to upcycle beautiful Rimu door jambs from the local primary school into these signage panels.

I used a colour palette of soft slatey greens and dark greys along with metallic golds to create these signs that are at once a compliment to this stunning stone building and look as though they have always been in place.

I also made a series of smaller interior signs in pine and finished them with similar colours and effects.

I am incredibly happy with these signs and this was a highly enjoyable project.

Medium: Resene enamacryl, acrylics and metallic paints. These signs were painted and sanded back a few times over to reveal the texture and character of the Rimu. Then coated with marine - grade UV protective varnish.
