CITY CAVE

The owners of City Cave contacted me in early 2021 about an exciting project to produce a large mural and hand painted branding in their new Float Spa premises in Remarkables Park. 

Largely open to my interpretations of the space, they wanted a calming, grounded and location relevant mural. This is the first City Cave in New Zealand and they wanted to do something special to really put themselves on that map!

We discussed a few options and settled on a fiordland inspired scene with waterfalls and layers of peaks that are designed to draw the eye in. I added texture and movement by working very quickly with a very wet brush to create layer within the water - I hadn't worked in exactly this way before, so this was a great process. 

This 5 metre wide feature wall was finished with beautiful textured Porter's Paint. so this job was thoroughly in the 'no screw-up zone'. Challenge accepted!

The branding in the reception was enjoyable to paint too and the result was crisp, clean and professional.
